How to Book Practices at Sunnyside Paddling Club
To get started, please fill out our booking request form, providing contact information of your team manager, practice dates, days off, coaching status, and other important details to help make this season run smoothly.

Once you've submitted a booking request, our SPC Admin team will bill you through our online invoicing system. More details can be found within the guide document below.
Early Bird Deadlines
Teams that provide a 10% deposit before February 14th will receive 5 % off boat rental rates.

Toronto dragon boat teams can refer to the table below to identify which rate per practice aligns best with their training season.

Coaching Rates and Team Safety
Coaches are not included with practices, however, they can be requested by teams and provided by SPC. Teams are open to using their own independent coaches, but it is important to note that insurance is not provided, and SPC is not responsible for on-water incidents.

For safety reasons, it is required that at least 2 individuals are certified in First Aid and CPR (Level A, minimum).

Each team training at SPC will have a designated team manager and secondary. All independent coaches, team managers, and secondaries must read our club safety and conduct policy, in addition to completing an online quiz and attestation.
Club Membership Fee ($45 +HST) ​
All teams paddling more than 10 times a season are required to pay a membership fee (per paddler), in addition to a per practice rate. Teams that paddle fewer than 10 times in a year are only required to pay the per practice rate with no membership fee.

Member benefits include 30% off recreational & outrigger rentals, and 15% off youth camp enrollments.
Payment Terms
A 10% deposit is required upon booking. The remainder of your payment must be submitted 1 week prior to your first practice. If an extension is required, please let us know and we can accommodate with reason.
Practice Duration, Slot Times, and Off-Peak Hours​
Team practices are 1 hour and 5 minutes long. Launch times are as follows:
MONDAY-THURSDAY: 6:25 PM, 7:40 PM
WEEKENDS: 7:50 AM, every 1 hour and 10 minutes thereafter

Boats must be off the water by 8:45 PM on weekdays to ensure safety of both our paddlers and staff. If you are interested in securing a slot outside the times listed above, feel free to let us know in your booking form or contact us directly to discuss.

Peak hours include Monday-Thursday after 6 PM, and Saturdays from 8 to 11 AM. All other hours are identified as off-peak hours. Teams who register for sessions during off-peak hours can enjoy 5% off their practice rates.

Practice fees include the following equipment and access:

Personal flotation devices (PFDs)

Wooden paddles

Access to one our of IDBF certified 20-person or 10-person dragon boats (Champion and Synsun)

Access to the Sunnyside/Gus Ryder Outdoor Pool changerooms (lockers require a 25 cent user fee)
Refund Policy
No refund or credit is given for cancellation within 24 hours of practice.

Credit is provided within the paddling season in the case of weather, or other events that are out of the club's control, resulting in the cancellation of practice. Teams are also provided credit if cancellation is made within 1 week or practice, at least 24 hours prior.
​
SPC is a not for profit organization - any events occurring that result in the cancellation of practices for the entire season may result in member fees being retained in order to keep the club as a going concern.
