Exemptions
To use SPC outrigger canoes, paddlers must fulfil the above competency requirements. Paddlers maybe exempted from sections 1 and the steering test in section 3 if they have (1) been in the SPC Small Boat program in past, (2) have been tested by an approved coach as a part of a crew test, or (3) has sufficient experience within their club crew outrigger program. A coach or manager can sign off the form below on behalf of the paddler.
Compound Orientation and Steering Test (COS Test)
All outrigger paddlers must complete an on-site orientation session with our staff. At the sessions, paddlers will become familiar with our compound layout, facility rules, and obtain bluetooth key lock invitations and instructions on how to use these devices. Bluetooth key device use will be required by both membership holders and drop-ins.
The session will also include a huli and steering test. These orientations are held for free throughout the season but are $25 if completed outside these sessions. Sign up for these tests is now available here.
Small Boat Membership $465 +HST
Our Small Boat Membership provides paddlers with the flexibility to paddle independently or in a group on a stable durable flat water craft. This is a great option for those looking to complement their existing dragon boat training program. This membership also provides access to a limited number of stand up paddleboards, kayaks and canoes.
Membership includes unlimited OC drop-ins during bookable hours from April 19 to October 31, 2025. Members are provided independent access to our rental crafts through a bluetooth key, which is to be received in person (NEW for 2025) at a mandatory orientation session.
Note that all Small Boat Membership holders must also purchase an SPC Club Membership Fee ($45 +HST).
Outrigger Canoe Drop-in $22 (SPC Members) | $27 (non-Members) +HST
Outrigger canoe drop-ins are an excellent option is you are not looking to commit to a full season of outrigger canoe access. All drop-ins are excepted to meet our listed competency requirements for safe paddling before signing up for sessions.
SPC Members vs non-Members
Drop-in pricing differs based on SPC Membership status with the club. Individuals who purchase an SPC Club Membership fee ($45 +HST) receive $5 off all OC drop-ins. Note that some paddlers are SPC Members, as their dragon boat teams practice more than 10 times during the season. Please consult your dragon boat team captain to see if you qualify.
Drop-in Access
Drop-ins looking to book OCs during unstaffed hours (i.e. early mornings) can arrange to receive a bluetooth key code from SPC staff upon completion of all requirements listed previously (Huli, COS, Orientation). This code will provide the drop-in with access to our compound. There will be a section within the drop-in registration process on Amilia to indicate if you would like to receive this code. Requests for these codes will be evaluated at the end of each day, so it is best that you book your crafts well in advance. There are no refunds within 24 hours of booking except for weather and other safety related concerns.
Instructions on how to sign-up for an outrigger canoe drop-in can be found here.
